Joe joined SJL Attorney Search after a successful career as a corporate associate, first with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he worked with the securities, M&A and credit practice groups, and then with Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., where he advised clients on their mid-market M&A, acquisition finance and venture equity transactions. Joe’s clients ranged from bulge bracket banks and private equity firms to smaller tech companies and start-ups, affording him exposure to a broad range of transactions and clients that is atypical for many lawyers. While Joe was sought after by clients and envisioned a promising career path if he were to remain in private practice, he believed his greatest value came from mentoring young attorneys and from his involvement in his firm’s recruiting efforts. As a result, he joined SJL as a Managing Director.

In this role, Joe works closely with lawyers at all levels helping them define their career objectives, becoming educated on the various paths for accomplishing such objectives and, when appropriate, understanding the pros and cons of various platforms and opportunities. Given his experience practicing, Joe brings a unique perspective both on what motivates lawyers at various points in their career, as well as the ways to best satisfy their needs. He partners with candidates to ensure that their interests are prioritized and collaborates with clients to ensure transparency and fit.

Joe earned his law degree from Cornell Law School, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, where he served as a Notes Editor on the Cornell Law Review and as a Lawyering Program Teaching Fellow. He earned his B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Villanova University and a business minor from the Villanova School of Business. Prior to joining Simpson, Joe clerked for the Hon. Richard C. Wesley, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Joe enjoys spending time with his wife (who works at the TradeDesk, an ad tech company), exploring New York with family and friends, traveling and listening to and playing music.
