Business Development Role at Top NY-Based Firm

My client, one of the top New York based firms is looking to hire an associate with at least 3 years of experience to join their business development team.  The business development department has about 30 people, most of whom are ex-lawyers from top firms.  As part of this group, you would work with the Business Development Senior Team, Firm Partners and Associates, preparing information about the Firm’s corporate and litigation practice areas and lawyers, including biographies, deal and experience lists, rankings and awards, practice descriptions, client contacts and other related information. This role provides research and analysis about clients, competitors, markets and industries, related internal business, client communications and related work product. Some of the essential responsibilities are:

  • Perform various business and operational support functions as related to Business Development strategies, marketing, communications, policies, procedures and initiatives for the Firm’s corporate and litigation departments;

  • Provide competitive intelligence reports and analysis

  • Draft pitch and proposal materials;

  • Help design and implement practice and industry-related initiatives;

  • Prepare and manage directory submissions and survey responses for various legal and business directories/publications;

  • Maintain deal and case experience; help manage the Firm’s engagement database and across related channels;

  • Maintain website content, Partner biographies and various Business Development communications materials across multiple channels;

  • Manage creation of advertising, posters, flyers and other promotional materials, working with the Graphic Designer and outside vendors where appropriate;

  • Prepare and maintain promotional materials, including brochures, practice area descriptions, rankings and quotes;

  • Assist with managing Firm-sponsored events and presentations;

  • Foster and maintain strong relations with key stakeholders; ensure stakeholders’ engagement is supported in varied departments and offices; and

  • Support Business Development projects and other Firm initiatives as needed.

The firm is looking for this hire to begin in January, so that you are able to receive your bonus.  We have placed three other associates in this group and they are all thrilled with the transition.
